Captain Broder Nielsen

Commander German Naval Air Command

Beginning his military career in 1985 at the Naval Academy Mürwik, this officer trained aboard the Deutschland before transitioning to aviation. He completed basic and advanced flying training in Germany and the U.S., specializing in the Alpha Jet and later the Tornado. From 1991, he served as a Weapon System Officer in Naval Air Wings 1 and 2, steadily rising through leadership roles including Training Officer, Executive Officer, and Commanding Officer. His strategic acumen led to staff positions in the Bundeswehr Joint Operations Command and the Ministry of Defence. A graduate of the German Command and Staff College and NATO Defense College, he held senior personnel roles in Köln and Bonn. From 2010 onward, he commanded Naval Air Wing 3 “Graf Zeppelin” and later led the Naval Air Command in Nordholz from 2022. His career reflects a blend of operational excellence, leadership, and strategic personnel management across the German Navy.
