Brigadier DOUTAUD was born in Paris where he was raised. He joined the Army as a cadet at Saint-Cyr Military Academy in September 1989. After 3 years of junior military education in Saint-Cyr-Coëtquidan, he chose the French Infantry as a branch and the Army Aviation as a speciality. Promoted lieutenant in August 1992 and posted at the Army Aviation Branch School, he attended the basic rotary wing course in Dax and the combat platoon leader training in Le Cannet des Maures. He joined the 5th Combat Helicopter Regiment in Pau in March 1994 as a platoon leader on Attack Helicopter Squadron equipped with Hot missile Gazelle. He successively assumed the position of second in command and commander of an Attack Helicopter Squadron until 2000. During his assignment, he participated two times in operations in Bosnia as platoon and squadron leader (1996-1998). In August 2000, he was assigned to the 4th Division Level Task Force Headquarters in Limoges where he served as planning officer and attended the Staff College Course. He was promoted Major in October 2002 and went back in Bosnia as military assistant to the general chief of the Stabilization Force staff. Between 2003 and 2005, he attended the Army War College and the Joint War College in Paris. In July 2005, he was posted to the Army Aviation Branch School and led the junior officer course and the captain course. He was promoted lieutenant-colonel in October 2006. Transferred in August 2007 to Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk (USA), he was staff officer dealing with training and education in NATO with a specific focus on Afghanistan’s Headquarters training. Back in France, he moved to Paris in 2010 as instructor to the Army War College, he was promoted colonel on 1st July 2011 when getting for two years the command of the army aviation branch school base. From 2013 to 2017, he served at the army aviation school staff as chief director for training and instruction. From 2017 to 2019, he was responsible for human resources at the Army Aviation command (COMALAT) in Villacoublay, near Paris. Between 2019 and 2022 he was deputy commander at the 4th Combat Airmobile Brigade in ClermontFerrand and was deployed six months in Bamako (Mali) to advise Malian armed forces. From 2022 to 2024, he was chief of staff of the Army Aviation Command. Since summer 2024, promoted brigadier, he is deputy commander of the French Army Aviation.
