Prof. Axel Schulte has been a university professor for flight mechanics and flight guidance at the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich since 2002. He is the spokesperson for the MARC research center (“Military Aviation Research Center”) at UniBwM. In 2010, he was a Visiting Professor at the Humans and Automation Lab at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Prof. Schulte conducts research on technologies for cognitive automation and human-autonomy teaming in military aviation. Today, he is heavily involved in conceptualizing the “Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T)” capability for next-generation combat aircraft systems. From 1995 to 2002, Dr. Schulte worked as a systems engineer at a Munich-based systems and software company, where he led research and technology projects for transport and combat aircraft. In 1985, he joined the German Air Force and trained as an aeronautical engineering officer. Schulte completed his LRT studies and earned his doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) between 1986 and 1995.
