He joined SPAF in 1980. He has served as a SAR Commander in SPAIN and as a Commander of Helisaf (MEDEVAC unit) in Herat, Afghanistan. He has led 57 real-world MEDEVAC missions there. He has a total of 3,500 helicopter flight hours, mostly in Puma and Super Puma helicopters. He also has more than 4,500 in ultralight autogiros).
