Ireland receives first Samuel Beckett-class OPV

The first Samuel Beckett-class offshore patrol vessel (OPV) was delivered to the Irish Naval Service (INS) recently in a £82 million deal.
The Babcock Marine-built vessel will enter service later this year. Ireland ordered two OPVs in 2010 – the second is to be named LE James Joyce – with an option to buy a third.
