Brigadier Igor Šepec, Deputy Force Commander of the Slovenian Armed Forces, was born on 15 March 1968 and joined the Slovenian Armed Forces in April 1991 as a training instructor at the Training Centre in Ig. A veteran of the War for Slovenia, he has built a distinguished military career spanning more than three decades, progressing through a wide range of command, training, operational, and staff appointments. His leadership roles have included Company Commander, Chief of Staff of the 1st Brigade, Executive Officer and Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Centre, Chief of the Operations Centre at the Force Command, Chief of the Operations Planning Section of the General Staff, and Chief of J-7 at Force Command, before assuming his current position in 2024. Brigadier Šepec has completed extensive professional military education, including the General Staff Course, and earned a management specialist degree from the Faculty of Management in 2009. He has also served on multiple KFOR deployments in Kosovo and has received numerous military decorations in recognition of his service, leadership, and contribution to national defence.
