Colonel Yevhen Shamatalyuk is a Ukrainian Air Assault Forces officer with extensive front-line combat experience, born in Vinnytsia Region in 1990. A graduate of the Ivan Bohun Kyiv Military Lyceum and the Land Forces Academy in Lviv, he began his career as a platoon commander in the 79th Separate Airmobile Brigade and has been continuously engaged in operations since 2014. He was wounded twice that year, including during the battle for Donetsk Airport, but returned to duty on both occasions. Over the course of the conflict, he has held a range of command and staff roles, including Battalion Commander, Chief of Staff, and First Deputy Commander of the 95th Air Assault Brigade. During the full-scale invasion in 2022, he led units in key operational areas including Izyum, Kharkiv, Lyman, and Maryinka. He later commanded the 79th Air Assault Tavria Brigade and now serves as Deputy Commander of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade. A graduate of the National Defense University of Ukraine, he was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine.
