Commissioning into the Army Air Corps in 1993, Maj General Keating's early career included three years in Northern Ireland and a deployment to Bosnia with the Canadian Air Force. Subsequently, after a variety of staff roles, he assumed command of 657 Squadron, where he deployed to Iraq and South America. After a period at MOD, Maj Gen Keating assumed Command of 9 Regiment AAC in 2011, deploying Sqns to Afghanistan, Kenya and the Far East. In 2010, he deployed to Afghanistan with the 3rd US Ma-rine Air Wing. Upon promotion to Colonel, he was assigned to Assistant Director Operational Plans, later becoming deputy Head of Military Strategy. Upon promotion to Brigadier, he returned to flying duties as Deputy Commander JHC. Maj Gen Keating served as COS ARRC from May 2023 until his retirement in November 2025. He now works as an independent consultant, strategic advisor and senior mentor, and serves as Colonel Commandant of the Army Air Corps.
