Colonel (Ret'd) Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences

Colonel Pär Blid is a retired Swedish Army officer and senior intelligence professional with more than four decades of military service. Beginning his career at the Lapland Ranger Regiment in 1982, he commanded ranger units before serving in a range of intelligence and operational roles at brigade, divisional, and strategic levels. A graduate of the Swedish War College with a specialisation in Command-and-Control Warfare, he later joined the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters as a General Staff officer. Colonel Blid has extensive expertise in military intelligence, security, and international operations. Notably, he was the first Swedish officer to attend the Russian Federation General Staff Academy in Moscow. He subsequently held senior appointments within the Swedish Military Intelligence and Security Directorate (MUST), served as Commanding Officer of the Swedish National Intelligence Cell in Afghanistan, and was Defence Attaché at the Swedish Embassy in Moscow. His international experience includes senior positions with the European Monitoring Mission in Georgia, the United Nations on Syria, the OSCE in Ukraine, and NATO Headquarters in Brussels. Colonel Blid's final active appointment was as Head of Department within MUST. He remains engaged as a reserve officer with the Swedish Army Staff (G2) and has been a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences since 2013.
