Major General Jörg See

Major General Jörg Thorsten See joined the Bundeswehr in 1986 as an enlisted combat engineer and became an officer candidate in 1988. After serving as a platoon leader in Armoured Engineer Company 130, he studied political science at Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg. He then held a series of command and staff appointments, including platoon leader, S3 officer, and commander of 2nd Company Engineer Battalion 320. His early international experience included serving as Aide-de-Camp to Commander LANDCENT and a six-month deployment to Kosovo. Following completion of the German General Staff Officers' Course and the UK Advanced Command and Staff Course at Shrivenham, Major General See held key positions within the Federal Ministry of Defence and commanded 1st Armoured Engineer Battalion, deploying to Kabul as CJ35 at ISAF Headquarters. He later served in senior NATO and defence policy roles in Brussels and Berlin, focusing on missions, operations, security, and defence policy. Promoted to Brigadier General in 2016, he took command of the 12th Panzer Brigade "Oberpfalz." In 2019, he joined NATO Headquarters as Deputy Assistant Secretary General in the Defence Policy and Planning Division, following promotion to Major General. Since September 2024, he has commanded Germany's 10th Panzer Division in Veitshöchheim.
