Colonel Peter Elston

Colonel Peter Elston joined the Royal Military Police in 1989 and commissioned as an officer in 2005. Over a 37-year military career, he has served in both 101 and 102 Operational Sustainment Brigades, gaining experience across both the Staff and in Command. His staff appointments have included positions in 49 and 7 Brigades, the Land Warfare Centre, Force Troops Command and Army Headquarters, where he worked on training, doctrine, operational planning, and strategy. He has completed the Intermediate and Advanced Staff Courses at the Joint Services Command and Staff College, alongside senior leadership, and NATO professional military education programmes. As Commanding Officer of Army Training Unit (North), Colonel Elston led the delivery of Basic Training across Northern England, overseeing significant adaptations to training delivery during the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2024, he assumed the role of Deputy Commander, 101 Operational Sustainment Brigade, one of the British Army's largest brigades, comprising fourteen units and approximately 5,000 personnel. The brigade provides critical 2nd and 3rd line support to 3 (UK) Division, underpinning operational readiness and sustainment.
