Brigadier General István Tóth

Commander of the 1st Klapka György Armoured Brigade Hungarian Defence Forces

Born on June 16, 1976, in Szolnok, Hungary, he is a senior military officer, married with two children. He began his military education at the Kossuth Lajos Military College in Szentendre, graduating as an armor officer in 1998, and later earned a Master of Military Arts and Science from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in 2008. He further enhanced his leadership training at the National University for Public Service in Budapest. Over his career, he has held numerous command and staff positions, progressing from platoon leader to commander of the 1st Armored Brigade in 2022. His operational experience includes deployments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Afghanistan, and Iraq, where he served in key leadership roles. Fluent in English and Russian and has received multiple national and international decorations, including the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary, he was promoted to Brigadier General in May 2025,
