Lieutenant-Colonel Mailloux joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2001 and, after graduating from the Royal Military College in 2006, completed infantry officer training and joined the Royal 22e Régiment. His operational experience includes commanding an airborne platoon in Afghanistan in 2007 and a combined-arms training company in Ukraine in 2018. Over his career, he has served extensively at both tactical and strategic levels, spending eight years in infantry battalions, three years in national headquarters in Ottawa, and three years working alongside U.S. allies at the Pentagon. He served as Chief of Staff of 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group before assuming command of 1st Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, in June 2025. In June 2026, after a year of high-readiness training, he took command of the NATO Multinational Battlegroup Latvia, leading 950 personnel from four Allied nations. In 2007, an IED strike in Afghanistan resulted in the amputation of his left leg above the knee. Following rehabilitation, he redeployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and continued serving as an infantry officer. Since then, he has maintained full operational standards and remained actively engaged in field service. His resilience has also been demonstrated through participation in the Invictus Games and leadership of Team Canada. Lieutenant-Colonel Mailloux holds master's degrees in International Politics from the University of Glasgow and Defence Studies from the Canadian Forces College.
