Overview of future maritime threats
For AAW (Anti-Air Warfare), current in-service surface platform threats are primarily ASMs. ASMs in the modern sense they were introduced during the 1950’s, initially by the Soviet Union, they had a rapid development that focused on increasing the following attributes:
Increase of velocity in the terminal phase;
Introduction of manoeuvres, going into the terminal phase to reduce the probably negation (e.g. weaving, dog-legging, corkscrewing, rapid acceleration);
