The US government’s largest shipbuilding project, the U.S. Coast Guard’s Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC), took another step forward this month as three companies received design contracts for Phase I of the programme.
General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, Bollinger Shipyards and Eastern Shipbuilding each won deals of around $21 million after beating off competition from five other companies including Huntington Ingalls and VT Halter.
