Bulgaria in for new fighter jets under modernisation programme
Bulgaria is seeking to acquire a number of new multipurpose fighter jets under a 1 billion leva (US $680 million) modernisation programme.
The country’s current fighter fleets are all Russian-made, including the Sukoi Su-25 and two MiG variants. The programme is part of a wider effort to reduce Bulgaria’s reliance on Russian weapons and military equipment following recent events.
