Brazil Launches Army Modernisation Plan

The Brazilian army has launched an initiative to modernise and upgrade the service from 2009 to 2030 under the National Defence Strategy approved in December 2008 and is planning to spend around BRL149 billion (US$74 billion) to upgrade its capabilities.
