From Autonomous Systems to Underwater Demining, NATO Dives Into Mine Warfare

In our discussion of underwater battlespace technologies, we are joined by Phillippe Cornez, director of the NATO Naval Mine Warfare Centre of Excellence. This relatively new division focuses on several missions - training and education in mine warfare, as well as advising on NATO standards in this domain. Mines are consistently advancing in technological capability, including their ability to elude modern minesweepers. Rogue states are acquiring more advanced mine technology and this will likely play a role in the next major asymmetric warfare attack.
