Brazilian Air Defence Digest: April-May 2013
As new figures emerge from the Stockholm International Peace Research (SIPRI) this month, one of the most noticeable contrasts shows that while total global military spending dipped last year for the first time in fifteen years, defence spending in Latin America bucked the trend to rise by 4.2 percent.
Chief among the nations in the region is Brazil, currently driving an armed forces modernisation effort that saw $33 billion spent last year on upgrades, technology transfers and manpower.
