The Royal Canadian Navy is facing further postponement to its plans to acquire new Arctic Offshore Patrol Vessels, according to papers presented to the House of Commons. The Arctic Patrol Ship Project, announced in 2007 by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, aims to add 6-8 new vessels to the force capable of breaking through ice in the difficult Northern coastlines of Canada, with first delivery by 2015.
