The General Petraeus scandal took a dramatic turn yesterday after General Allen, his successor as commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, was dragged into the affair.
When Petraeus stepped down as CIA director last week after admitting to having an inappropriate relationship with Paula Broadwell it was clearly a damaging matter for the individuals involved, but it wasn't expected to spiral into something altogether more sinister that included other high ranking officials.
