The United States military has announced that efforts to provide its armoured vehicles with non-petroleum based fuel-cells are making progress.
First in line for the potential upgrade to hydrogen power is the M1 Abrams which requires a large supply of electricity to feed its onboard equipment, including computers, sensors and communications. The vehicle’s current power is supplied by a diesel engine and alternator.
