Breakthrough: 'Holy Grail' Satellite System Tracks Life of Ballistic Missile
A demonstration ballistic missile has been tracked without interruption over its entire flight path by two orbiting satellites, heralding a first for space-based technology and missile defence capability.
The feat was achieved by the Space Tracking and Surveillance System (STSS) spacecraft, built by Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems for the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and has been described as the "Holy Grail" of missile defence by the company’s vice president.
