We all know that the character of land warfare is changing, and fast. Therefore, so too must the platforms, doctrines, and partnerships that enable effective armoured operations change with it. In this context, Defence iQ’s International Armoured Vehicles (IAV) Conference remains an essential forum for those directly involved in shaping the future of mounted operations.

Once again taking place on the 19th – 21st January 2027 at Farnborough International Exhibition Centre, IAV will welcome over 1,600 stakeholders from more than 55 nations, spanning military leadership, programme authorities, government representatives, and industry. IAV, now in its 27th year, has established itself as a consistent point of convergence for the global armoured vehicles community.

What distinguishes IAV is its operational focus. The event provides a structured environment for examining lessons from recent and ongoing conflicts, assessing how requirements are changing, and evaluating the technologies and platforms being developed in response. For defence professionals, it represents a fantastic opportunity to engage with peers, compare national approaches, and contribute to discussions that directly inform capability development.

Alongside the conference programme, the exhibition hall remains a central component of the event. It provides visibility of the systems and platforms currently being fielded or prepared for deployment, offering a tangible link between strategic discussion and operational capability.

To illustrate the type of technology showcased at the 2026 event, Defence iQ produced the following infographic:

“What Will Drive the Future of Land Warfare? IAV 2026 Vehicle Exhibit Preview.”

The infographic highlights a selection of vehicles featured in the lead-up to IAV 2026, including reconnaissance platforms and mobile tactical armour. It offers a concise overview of the kinds of capabilities that underpin both the exhibition and the wider conference discussions.

With preparations underway for IAV 2027, our vehicle preview is a useful reference point for understanding the direction of travel in armoured vehicle development and the technologies likely to shape the future.
