Cyber crime costs spiralling year-on-year, report shows

Taken from a sample of US-based multinational organisations the average cost incurred in dealing with cyber crime per company is $8.9 million, according to the 2012 Cost of Cyber Crime Study, which is a report produced by the Ponemon Institute and sponsored by HP. The report found that the frequency of attacks and the cost in cleaning up after them has increased year-on-year, roughly doubling in both instances.
