Defence IQ had the opportunity to speak with subject matter experts and defence professionals at the 5th Annual Counter-IED conference. In this interview, Richard de Silva speaks with Andy Pettitt - an IED researcher at the University of St Andrews. They talk about comparisons between explosives devised and used in Northern Ireland and those used in Afghanistan, with the primary difference being that modern IED warfare relies on high volume, while incurring little initial monetary cost.
