Asia to overtake Europe in its defence spend this year

By the end of 2012 Asia is expected to be spending more on defence than Europe according to a new study by the Center for Strategic and International Studies, which explores the budgets of the region’s five biggest spenders including China, India, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.
The total military spend in the region in 2011 was $224 billion, which is almost double the expenditure in 2000. Looking at the figures, it’s little wonder the U.S. is reposturing towards the East.
