Several hundred Afghans have rallied in Kabul to demand the immediate withdrawal of international troops ahead of the 10th anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan.

Reports say at least 200 protesters shouted anti-American slogans and burned a U.S. flag in the Afghan capital, but the protest remained peaceful.

October 7 marks the 10th anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan, which ousted the Taliban regime from power.

It came after the Taliban refused to hand over Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, whom Washington held responsible for the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against the United States.

The Taliban are now fighting an insurgency in Afghanistan, where 140,000 foreign troops, mostly from the United States, are based.
