However, for one Special Troops battalion based in Colorado, the battlegrounds in Iraq are still on the forefront of their minds. The 4th Brigade Combat team of the 4th Infantry Division is set to deploy its troops to Iraq again and bring with them a few thousand troops to safeguard Iraqi provinces.
Lieutenant Colonel Jody Nelson commands the 4th Special Troops Battalion and is deploying for her third time in the war on terror with an entire battalion of soldiers under her guidance. The Special Troops Battalion is set to be deployed to Iraq for an entire year, supporting an Infantry Brigade in combat. LTC Nelson speaks about the preparations that she and her entire battalion have made in their months leading up to deployment in Iraq.
Joining LTC Nelson is a young soldier who is about to deploy on his first trip oversees. Private First Class Steve Errante speaks about his combat training leading up to his first deployment. PFC Errante is an infantryman assigned to the personal security detail, which is the body guards that protect and safeguard the Battalion commander, LTC Nelson.
