UK MoD Shortlist Two for Anti-Materiel Weapon

Accuracy International (AI) and Barrett Firearms Manufacturing (BFM) have been shortlisted by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) to supply trial weapons for its Long-Range Precision Anti-Structure Weapons System (LRPAS) requirement. Both contenders were awarded contracts ahead of a test programme for the semi-automatic .50-calibre (12.7 mm) anti-materiel weapon programme. Trials were expected to start by the end of 2009, although the MoD originally expected tests to begin in October.
