Russia and Venezuela Seal Tank Deal

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said his country is ready to supply Venezuela with main battle tanks (MBTs) and other equipment. Russian defence officials confirmed that a contract worth US$500 million for the delivery of up to 100 T-72 and T-90 MBTs was signed during Chavez’s visit, at which the Venezuelan president confirmed that he intended to strengthen his country’s defence capabilities.
