Which European nation is increasing its defence spend over the next 12 months? Believe it or not there is one.
It’s Norway.
This comes after the Nordic country’s economy has been boosted by petroleum profits meaning that the government has a trend-bucking surplus to play with. The surplus has allowed politicians to propose a 3% increase in military spending – the 2013 defence expenditure is forecast to be $7.3 billion.
