Egypt's official news agency MENA reports that ex-president Hosni Mubarak and others will be put on trial in Cairo on August 3 over their alleged involvement in the killing of protesters.

MENA quoted an unnamed Justice Ministry official as saying the trial of Mubarak, his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, former interior minister Habib al-Adli, and others will be held at an exhibition center in the capital.

It was not immediately clear if Mubarak's health condition would prevent him attending in person.

Judicial sources had earlier said Mubarak could be tried in Sharm el-Sheikh, where he has been hospitalized since April when he was first questioned.
