The FX-2 contest–unofficially valued at USD2.2 billion to USD2.5 billion–is being held to replace the FAB’s ageing fleet of Mirage 2000s, Northrop F-5M and AMX A1?A aircraft. An initial 36 aircraft are likely to be purchased, with potential for a further 84–the first of which is currently scheduled to be delivered in 2015.
