The change of strategy introduced by General McChrystal in Afghanistan has led to new CAS procedures being put in place to reduce the "strategic impact" of air strikes on the Afghan population. New technologies, weapons and aircraft are also being developed to make air power more "useable" on the complex battlefields of the 21st century.
