Aerial Targets Sector Report

Add bookmark
Aerial targets represent a modest and secondary but key military technology, whose evolution dates back to the earliest remotely-piloted aircraft developed during WWII for use in training.

Targets can be divided into two broadly defined categories: full-scale aerial targets (FSAT) and sub-scale aerial targets (SAT). The latter category is frequently subdivided into supersonic and subsonic types. Aerial targets are also sometimes referred to as unmanned aerial targets (UAT), although this is misleading as while FSAT frequently include the capability for human piloting when required, the deployment of most Aerial Targets is by remote piloting, towing or semi- or fully-autonomous operation.
