Chief of the Defence Staff Strategic Communication Officer Major General John Lorimer said:
"The UK Armed Forces have continued to make a significant contribution to NATO's Operation Unified Protector, to protect Libyan civilians under threat of attack and enforce United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973.
"On Tuesday, Royal Air Force aircraft successfully engaged two multiple rocket launchers east of Sirte. They also destroyed an armoured personnel carrier and two artillery pieces involved in the bombardment of Misratah. On Wednesday, a Tornado and a Typhoon attacked a pair of surface to air missile launchers near Tripoli. RAF support aircraft, including VC-10 tankers and Sentinel, Sentry and Nimrod R1 surveillance aircraft have continued to provide invaluable support to both RAF fast jets and those of other NATO partners."
