The two C-17s travelled from RAAF Base Richmond to RAAF Base Townsville to deliver essential supplies including water, toilet paper, nappies, tea, coffee and baked beans.
Each C-17s carried approximately 67 tonnes of supplies to resupply Townsville and North Queensland towns.
They then flew to RAAF Base Amberley to deliver two Army amphibious vehicles, known as LARCs (Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo), from Townsville to RAAF BASE Amberley. The LARCs are capable of travelling on both land and water and will be a valuable asset to the flood relief efforts.
The C-17s are expected to fly a number of missions in support of Operation Flood Assist because of their ability to carry a significant amount of cargo in a single flight.
