There has been no instance of such drawn out air-to-air combat where the stakes were so high. The Battle of Britain celebrates its 70th anniversary this month and next.

He is the professor of the history of medicine and psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry and King’s Centre for Military Health Research. Professor jones also specialises as a historian in the study of war related trauma in veterans of the First and Second World Wars and has been featured on several documentaries on BBC and Channel 4.
