NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab Recruits Global Hawk UAVs for Science Mission

Unmanned systems are quickly making the circuit among civilian agencies. NASA is a prime example of a major research organisation that is moving away from satellite systems in earth remote sensing. Sensor packages can be customised per each UAS platform and NASA operates both Predator and Global Hawk platforms. Dr Scott Hensley is the principal investigator of NASA's UAVSAR programme based at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and he answers the critical questions of how UAVs are incorporated into research and civilian uses.
