F-35 officially selected as South Korea's next generation fighter

According to government officials South Korea has officially picked Lockheed Martin’s fifth generation F-35 fighter, bringing a close to the country’s protracted and controversial acquisition programme. South Korea is expected to buy 40 of the conventional-take-off-and-landing variants – the F-35A – with the first delivery due in 2018.
