In this interview, General John Kiszely discusses IEDs and their effect on IAVs. He describes how campaign success depends on the freedom of movement for coalition troops. That freedom, in turn, depends on safe and secure armoured vehicles. The threat posed by IEDs, though, is a very big one. It's easy to underestimate the technical problem with protecting these vehicles. Increasing the weight and size compromises the IAV's ability to manoeuvre, which creates further vulnerability. New technologies provide increased protection to IAVs without adding extra weight. In this interview, General John Kiszely discusses IEDs and their effect on IAVs.
