The U.S. Army is looking to field a hostile-fire indicator (HFI) for its Boeing AH-64D Apache attack helicopters deployed in Iraq. The army’s operational experience in Iraq had led to an urgent requirement for the Apaches to respond instantly to incoming small-arms fire, rocket-propelled grenades and mortar fire.
