KABUL, Afghanistan (Nov. 10) – An Afghan and coalition security force captured a Kabul-based Taliban improvised explosive device facilitator and attack planner during an overnight operation in Kabul province Tuesday.
He maintained constant contact with Kabul-based insurgent attack cells connected to attempted attacks throughout the International Peace Conference in July and the parliamentary elections in September.
Intelligence reports led the security force to a compound in Sofla in Musahi district to search for the targeted individual, who was reportedly planning more attacks. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the compounds peacefully before the joint security force cleared and secured the buildings.

During initial questioning, the facilitator identified himself as the targeted individual in the operation and was detained along with two of his associates.

A local Afghan National Police force took control of the area before the security force departed. The assault force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children throughout the search.
