India's foreign minister today promised to keep troops in Afghanistan "as long as the legitimately elected government of Afghanistan wants us to be here."
S.M. Krishna, speaking during a two-day visit to Kabul that began January 8, also warned against any foreign interference in efforts to disarm the Taliban.
He also announced that India will give 1,000 tons of wheat to Afghanistan as the country struggles with drought.
India is thought to be one of the most generous countries in the region when it comes to aid and reconstruction for Afghanistan.
