Former CIA and SOCOM Specialist Exposes Net War Realities
Defence IQ had the privilege of speaking with John Bumgarner, Chief Technical Officer of the US Cyber Consequences Unit, a non profit research organisation dedicated to studying economic and strategic impacts of cyber warfare. John boasts a wealth of experience in this area and in information operations and has worked with the CIA, NSA, DIA, DOD and US SOCOM. Here, John talks about the history of cyber war and how technological progress has moved us beyond traditional nation state military involvement. He also addresses future scenarios and how peacekeeping forces like the UN might intervene in state on state violence. He further answers the question of whether a true cyber offensive capability is already on the playing field and whether the UK, US, China and Israel possess these capabilities today.
