UK Secures Second Place in Defence Export Rankings

The U.K. was the world’s second-largest defence exporter in 2008, achieving 17 percent of the global market with orders of £4.2 billion (US$6.9 billion). This was significantly less than 2007, when it accounted for almost a third of the defence exporter market, but that performance was largely based on a deal to sell the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to Saudia Arabia.
