It's called 'Infinitely Variable Transmission' and it's a true-to-life example of how upgrades to existing armoured vehicles can prolong longevity to ageing mounted fleets. Dominic Phoon is a senior programme manager at ST Kinetics. IVT is a slight modification of the traditional CVT (continuously variable transmission) model, and is achieved by adding discreet gears to the transmission system (it also allows for zero output speed without a clutch) - perfect for heavy class armoured track vehicles.
