Turkey to upgrade armoured vehicles following mine deaths

Following a security meeting between the government, armed forces, and Chief of Staff Hulusi Akar, Turkey has decided to upgrade its fleets of armoured vehicles. The decision was taken after a landmine attack in Turkey’s south-eastern Siirt Province on August 19. The attack was carried out by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on a Cobra light armoured vehicle, and caused the deaths of the eight soldiers inside.
