Brett “Snappy” Abbamonte is a retired U.S. Marine Corps Officer. He began his career as an aircraft carrier-based F/A-18 pilot and was later selected to help stand up the first operational F-35 squadron. He became the first-ever F-35 Weapons School graduate, as well as the first to return as a Weapons School Instructor. Having served in the initial two operational F-35 squadrons as well as Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1), he was instrumental in establishing groundwork for the advancement of the F-35 program, as well developing and refining 5th Generation aircraft tactics.
